So I'm a little nervous, a bit excited, and definitely wishing I could have slept last night! I've got a show tonight with my band Chill Fantastic at the Fox Theatre out here in Boulder, Colorado.
It's our third appearance at the Fox - we opened for The Tao Jones back in September, and had our headlining debut on December 6th, 2007. Tonight we're opening for U-Melt, so it's going to be an awesome night of music.
If anyone's in the Boulder area and wants to get down tonight, let me know and I can leave some tickets for you at the box office. There's a limited number of comp tickets available and it's $10 at the door.
Doors are at 8:30 PM MTN, and we'll take the stage at 9 PM MTN.
Yep its true! Today marks the US release of Jeffrey Lewis' new album, 12 Crass Songs, on Rough Trade/Beggars! Jeffrey Lewis is currently touring the US and Canada, so be sure to check him out when he comes through town.
"Hailed by Jarvis Cocker as 'the best lyricist working in the US today', Jeffrey Lewis has turned his hand this time to reworking a selection of
songs by the legendary anarchist punk band Crass!! These new versions,
in Jeffrey's glorious folk rock, psychedelic style, lose none of the
political power of the originals and sound fresher than ever. Super
deluxe die cut package with changeable sleeve and fold out comic book
featuring Jeffrey's awesome artwork. CD only on Rough Trade."
Yep yep! Halou's new album Sawtooth is due out Feb. 12 and is available for pre-order now! Track previews are available at halou.com/sawtooth.
About Sawtooth:
"6 new tracks featuring the Cocteau twins' Robin Guthrie and Zoe Keating [Imogen Heap]. This year Halou celebrates 12 years as a band and returns with their most compelling work to date, the Sawtooth EP. Although still atmospheric and moody, the markedly harder edged sound of the new recordings also marks the addition of legendary guitarist Robin Guthrie [the Cocteau Twins] and cellist Zoe Keating [Imogen Heap/Rasputina]." - IODA Promonet
About Halou:
"This year Halou celebrates 12 years as a band and they return with their most compelling work to date: The Sawtooth EP.
In additon to the band’s work on their own material, the past few years have been spent using their production skills to help sculpt the sound of such artists as DJ Shadow, Lyrics Born, Frank Sinatra, Galactic, Blackalicious, John Cale, Low, No Doubt and even a Rod Stewart remix which hit #1 on Billboard. In addition, Halou has scored 2 successful award winning films, "This Girl's Life" starring James Woods, and "Quality of Life" (view trailer featuring Halou’s music). Their music was also recently featured on CSI in the show’s climax montage.
Throughout all of this, the band has still found the time to create their finest album and perform select live shows such as Seattle's Bumbershoot festival, The San Francisco International Film Festival, and the SF Museum of Modern Art. A full national tour is in the works for 2008.

So last Saturday night was the Me.dium holiday party and it was wild (although on different level than a Chill Fantastic show).
The theme was tacky Christmas...and there was just no way that I was going to dress up like that!
